The Essential Guide to Cabo’s Best Beaches

Medano Beach — the classic

Medano is Cabo’s social heart: two miles of golden sand lined with beach clubs, palapas and paddleboards, with El Arco framed across the bay. It is one of the few fully swimmable beaches in Cabo San Lucas, which makes it the default choice for families and first-timers.

From Cabo Downtown Studios it is an easy 10-minute walk. Go early for glassy water and empty sand, or settle into a beach club around lunch and stay for the golden hour.

Lover’s Beach & Divorce Beach

Take a five-minute water taxi from the marina to Lover’s Beach, a pocket of sand wedged between granite cliffs at Land’s End. Walk a hundred meters across the dunes and you reach Divorce Beach on the Pacific side — gorgeous, wind-swept and NOT swimmable due to strong currents.

There are no services on either beach, so bring water, shade and cash for the water taxi back.

Chileno Bay & Santa Maria

Twenty minutes up the corridor toward San José, Chileno and Santa Maria are protected coves with the best snorkeling in the area. Both have Blue Flag status, calm mornings and rocky reefs teeming with sergeant majors and parrotfish.

Arrive before 10 AM — parking is limited and the light underwater is at its best.

Know before you go

Pacific-side beaches (Solmar, Pedregal) are for walking, not swimming. Always respect the flag system: red means stay out of the water. Sunscreen must be reef-safe at protected coves.
