Currency, tipping, safety, shopping and the small stuff nobody tells you — read this on the plane and land like a regular.
Money & tipping
Pesos get better prices than dollars, though both are accepted everywhere downtown. Cards work in most places; keep small pesos for tacos, tips and water taxis. Tip 10–15% in restaurants, 20–50 pesos per bag or drink service.
Safety & health
Downtown Cabo is tourist-friendly and well patrolled; normal city awareness applies. Drink bottled or filtered water (your studio has it), wear reef-safe sunscreen, and respect red-flag surf on Pacific beaches — the ocean here is beautiful and serious.
Shopping & souvenirs
Skip the airport markup: downtown’s artisan markets carry Talavera, blankets and silver — polite haggling expected. For vanilla, hot sauce and mezcal, the local supermarkets are half the price of tourist shops.
With kids
Medano’s calm swim zones, glass-bottom boat rides to El Arco and camel safaris make Cabo surprisingly family-easy. Studios with sofa beds fit small families — check each studio’s capacity on its page.
